Atlanta School of Excellence utilizes high-quality, research-based early learning standards for children birth to age five called the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS). The GELDS are a continuum of skills, behaviors, and concepts that children develop throughout this time of life. GELDS are divided into age groups and serve as a framework for learning.
Atlanta School of Excellence incorporates the WINGS Curriculum (Wonder Interests Needs Goals Skills), an active and interactive learning system for effectively organizing and implementing developmentally and culturally appropriate practices based on the interests, needs and skill levels of children from infancy to age five. WINGS meets NAEYC’s (National Association for the Education of Young Children) 8 indicators of Effective Curriculum and its 11 indicators of Effective Assessment Practices. WINGS is also aligned with state standards for infants, toddlers and preschoolers/Pre-K.

Good nutrition is vital to children's learning and physical development. A wide variety of nutritionally balanced, high-quality food is prepared and served on the premises each day. Meals are served family-style; each child is encouraged to serve him or herself, and to take a "practice bite" of each food that is offered.
